Chapter 14
Comment on Atticus's explanation of rape. How suitable is this as an answer to Scout.
Why does Alexandra think Atticus should dismiss Calpurnia? How does Atticus respond to the suggestion?
Why is Scout pleased when Jem fights her back? Why is she less pleased when he tells Atticus about Dill?
What do we learn from Dill's account of his running away?

i don't have to do a question for chapter fourteen
ReplyDeleteWhy does Alexandra think Atticus should dismiss Calpurnia? How does Atticus respond to the suggestion?
ReplyDeleteAlexandra thinks Atticus should dismiss Calpurnia because she is the new female role model for Scout and that Calpurnia brought the kids up wrong and how she should have been harder on them. So Alexandra wants to take over Calpurnia's job. Atticus responds by saying the Calpurnia has done a great job with the kids and that she did nothing wrong and how he insists on keeping her.
What do we learn from Dill's account of his running away?
ReplyDeleteDill ran aaway from his home in Meridian with his mom and dad because he felt like he wasn't wanted there. (eg. Dill said "his mom and dad would go in a different room and would shut the door behind him) If I were Dill I probably would of done the same. :)

ReplyDeleteI think that Atticus's explanation of rape was very suitable for Scout. I think it was suitable because when he sais carnal knowledge of a female by force and with out consent I think that it didn't give him really harsh details but it still told him what is and that it is very bad. That's what I think about Atticus's explanation of rape.
I don't have a question for chapter fourteen!:)
ReplyDeleteWhy is Scout pleased when Jem fights her back? Why is she less pleased when he tells Atticus about Dill? what about this one!?
ReplyDeleteWhy is Scout pleased when Jem fights her back? Why is she less pleased when he tells Atticus about Dill?
ReplyDeleteScout is pleased when Jem fights her back because this means that they are equals when they fight. Jem does not act as equals with Scout when they don't fight. She is less pleased when she tells Atticus about Dill because she is afraid that he will send Dill back home.
