  1. What was (and is) the Ku Klux Klan? What do you think of Atticus's commentt about it?

The Ku Klux Klan was a political orginization, they tried to scare people but they didn't have any success so they were ashamed and went away. Atticus says that the Ku Klux Klan is gone and that they will never come back because they were not giving off the image that they wanted, and they won't have any success trying again.

  3. What persuades the lynching-party to give up their attempt on Tom's life?

Jem,Scout and Dil persuade the lynching party to give up on the attempt to take Toms life becuase of what they believed in and, by telling them what they believed in they got persuaded to give up. They may have thought that their belefs didn't sound that horrid. That is how they persuaded the crew to give up on Toms life.

  4. How does Jem react when Atticustells him to go home, and why?

When Atticus tells Jem to go home Jem just stands there. A whole bunch of people are aproaching Atticus and Atticus tells Jem, Scout and Dill to go home and Jm sais no. I think he did that because he didn't want the men doing anything to Atticus.

I think the "nightmare" is about Atticus. Scout said to Jem that she is scared of what might happen to Atticus...so maybe she had a bad dream about him.
(But i am not sure :s)
