CHAPTER SEVEN

7 comments:

  1. Chapter 7

When Jem tells Scout about getting his trousers back, he tells her of something strange. What is this?

Can you find any evidence that Jem is beginning to understand more than Scout about Boo Radley? What do you think this is?

Does Jem still fear the gifts in the tree? Give reasons for your answer.

When the children plan to send a letter to the person who leaves the gifts, they are prevented. How does this happen? Who does it, and why might he do so?

Jem may start to understand more about Boo Radley and the Radley place then Scout becuase When Jem had fell in the backyard of the Radley place he had ripped his pants and left them in the backyard of the Radley place, but when Jem returned to retreve them they were sewn up and hanging on the wire. When the neighboorhood was woken up by a bone shattering gun shot they were all suspisious about jems dissapearence. That may be why Jem is starting to understand more about Boo radly then Scout.

Jem tells Scout that when he went to get his trousers back they were just sitting there untangled and sewed up. When scout left his pants they were all tangled up in the fence and he couldn't get them out, but when he went there they were just lying on the fenced untagled. Also His pants had tears in them and the holes were badly stitched up. Jem thought that it was strange because it was like some one was expecting him to come back and get them. That what Jem tells Scout about getting his trousers back.

The children are prevented because Mr. Radley/ Mr. Nathen puts cement in the tree he said he did it because "the tree was dieing" but Atticus told the children that the tree is perfectly fine it wouldn't die for a while and it wasn't dieing. Mr. Radley might have done this because he didn't want thoose kids poking around his house.

Jem does not fear the gifts because Jem knows its just Boo's way of communicating with him. If he did fear the gifts he wouldn't have written the letter to thank Boo. When Mr.Nathan fills the hole in the tree with cement Jem cries.
